Design & Craftsmanship

The reverse features a stylized design of the Gallic rooster, France’s traditional sporting mascot, standing proudly atop a rugby ball inscribed with the word “RUGBY”. The obverse displays a right-facing portrait of King Charles III, encircled by the inscription “REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN – 2023 – 500 FRANCS CFA”.

“The rooster (‘le coq gaulois’) has long been a national symbol of France, especially in sports, and appears on many French rugby team emblems.”
