Rugby at Heart
Leonard is a passionate Springboks supporter, and rugby has been part of his life since his younger days. Like many South Africans, he also spent time on the rugby field himself.
Rugby, Now with Grammar
Today, Leonard works as an English language tutor. The rugby field may have changed, but the instinct to spot a mistake and deal with it quickly seems to have survived.
I used to tackle opponents on the rugby field. Now I tackle my students’ grammar mistakes with exactly the same enthusiasm!

From South Africa to the Collection
Thanks to Leonard, the Rugby Coin Museum collection has been enriched with remarkable coins and medals from South Africa. Some of these objects bring with them stories that could only have travelled to us through local knowledge and personal connections.
A Helping Hand
Leonard has generously helped the project by finding and facilitating access to pieces that would otherwise have been difficult to obtain. His contribution has helped strengthen the South African presence within the international collection.
More Than Collecting
For us, facilitators are not simply people who help us acquire objects. They help connect the museum with countries, communities and rugby traditions around the world, and Leonard has become one of those important links with South Africa.
