Biography
Tadhg Beirne’s journey to rugby stardom is highly unconventional. Released by his home province Leinster at age 24, he was close to giving up the sport entirely, even working as a pizza delivery driver to fund his dream. A lifeline move to Welsh clubs Llandovery and then Scarlets allowed his talent to shine, eventually helping Scarlets secure the PRO12 title. Returning to Irish rugby to join Munster, Beirne established himself as a central figure for both his province and the national team. Recognized as a quiet but incredibly powerful leader, he became the permanent captain of Munster in September 2024.
Achievements
nternational Honours: Has earned 70 caps for Ireland and was selected for multiple British & Irish Lions tours, playing every minute of all three Tests in 2025.
World Class Recognition: Named in the World Rugby Men’s 15s Dream Team for a second successive year in 2025 (also honoured in 2022 and 2024).
Player of the Series: Awarded the prestigious British & Irish Lions Player of the Series honour following the 2-1 series victory over Australia in 2025.
Leadership & Trophies: Led his teams to major successes, including helping Ireland win the Triple Crown during the 2025 Guinness Men’s Six Nations as the captain of Munster.
Museum Note
We are deeply touched and honored by the warm support our project receives from the rugby community. Having an outstanding player and respected leader like him personally endorse our mission is a true inspiration for our museum.
