The Six Nations Championship stands as the pinnacle of annual international rugby union, captivating millions across the continent. Collecting this piece bridges territorial numismatics with the grandest traditions of European rugby culture.

Design & Craftsmanship

Struck in copper-nickel by the Tower Mint in London, this 38.6 mm round coin weighs 28.28 grams and features a reeded edge with medal-style alignment. The obverse displays the official Coat of Arms of Gibraltar alongside the effigy and title of King Charles III, issued for the year 2023. The dynamic reverse depicts a rugby player in action surrounded by an oval rugby ball shape, encircled by the national animals and colors of each competing nation in the tournament.

“Struck to commemorate the prestigious 2023 tournament, this vibrant coin prominently features the names and national symbols of all six competing powers: England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, France, and Italy.”

Uniqueness

As a non-circulating legal tender piece, this coin is part of an exclusive series of 7 coins issued by the London Mint Office for Gibraltar. Its distinctive colored reverse incorporates the national motifs and colors of every participant in the championship, creating a visually striking multi-national tribute. This collaborative design concept sets it apart from standard single-nation commemorative issues.
